Schools Educational Resources
The Blood Donation Awareness Resource for secondary schools will help raise awareness among students and teachers about the significance of donating blood. This resource is designed for students from Transition Year onward, offering essential information about first-time blood donation, why transfusions are needed, and the importance of becoming a donor.
Currently available as a PowerPoint slideshow, the teaching resource walks students through the importance of giving blood and how it works. There are discussion topics about reasons that people often don't give blood, as well as exercises encouraging students to think of ways to break down barriers.
We hope that the free teaching resources for secondary school teachers about blood donation will help inspire students to become donors and advocates for blood donation.
Local schools are also a fantastic way to spread the message to families about blood donation and why it is so important. They are also a great place to bust some common myths about blood donation eligibility through education.
If you have specific questions that are not included in these teaching resources about blood donation, please contact us and we will be happy to support you.
We can also provide you with leaflets and posters for you to distribute to the schools in your area (with the principal's permission). Often a school will allow children bring home the short clinic leaflet or put posters up in the school for parents to see. This is a great way to start conversations about the importanc.
