Traceability Booklet

In compliance with Statutory Instrument 547 of 2006 the IBTS, where it acts as a hospital blood bank, has introduced the Bag and Tag Traceability System to trace the final fate of each and every unit of blood component supplied from the Diagnostic Laboratories at Cork and Dublin.

The Traceability User Manual describes the application of this system for hospitals receiving routine crossmatch services.

Components issued from our reference services will be labelled with our Bag and Tag Traceability system and despatched to reference service user hospitals in this way. The reference service user hospitals can decide how this label is managed in their laboratory/hospital. Traceability is the responsibility of the receiving blood bank.
