Schools Programme

The Blood Donation Awareness Programme for secondary schools provides us with an extremely valuable opportunity to create awareness amongst students about the importance of giving blood. It is also a chance to inform them of what’s involved and how to go about giving blood. Teacher's can choose to have a representative from the IBTS come to the school or educate students on blood donation through the Educational Pack designed especially for teachers.

Blood Donor Awareness Programme Educational Pack

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has developed a Donor Awareness Pack for secondary schools nationwide. The pack contains information to enable teachers to educate students about the importance of blood donation.

The pack includes a DVD that takes students through the donation process and features a young blood donor and recipient who share their personal experiences. There is also a short quiz included in the pack to put student’s knowledge to the test!

If you are interested in receiving the Give Blood: Donor Awareness Programme Educational Pack please contact 01 4322 902 or marketing@ibts.ie

School visits

The presentation is 30-40 minutes in duration and features a 10 minute film about becoming a blood donor. Students then have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have in relation to giving blood.

If you are interested in having the presentation carried out to either 4th, 5th or 6th years, we can organise for a representative to visit your school on a date that is convenient for you.
