Mary Mc's Story

My dad was my best friend. In May 2002 he underwent a hip operation. Unfortunately, complications set in and he was transferred by helicopter to the Intensive Care Unit in another hospital. During his stay in both hospitals, he received a massive total of 75 units of blood.

Unfortunately my dad didn't survive and very sadly I watched him pass away over a period of 13 days. I am very grateful for all the blood donations that were used for him and will never forget the memory of watching a staff member rushing up the corridor so many times with a cooler box to the theatre, knowing it was for dad.
